Slaka 35. In the case of an odd sign, the owners of the Dasamamsa or 1/10th portions are to be counted from /he sign itself; in the case of an even
sign, from the 9th onward. The owners of the Dwadasams or 1/12th portions of a sign are to be reckoned from that sign.
The sloka gives rules for calculating the dasamsa and dwadasamsa.
It will be seen from the sloka that according to parasara the lords of the Dasamamsas in the case of an odd sign are (1) Indra, (2) Agni (3) yama , (4) rakshasas (5) Varuna (6) Maruta, (7) Kubera (8) Esana, (9) padmaja, and (10) Ananth. These being counted in the reverse order in case of an eve sign.
The lords ,of the several Dwadasamsas of each sign are (l)
Ganesa (2) Aswini Kumaras (3) yama and (4) Ahi recurring in regular order’ But this view is not accepted by all.
Sloka 36. The Shodasamsas or 1/16th portions of a sign ate important. Their lords in the case of an odd sign are Brahma, Vishnu Hara and Ravi recurring in regular order.
When the lagna is an even sign, the lords of the shadasamsas are to be counted in the reverse order from Bhaskara or Ravi.
