The Sharda Temple is situated in Kishanganga Valley in the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. It is at Shardi which is a small village River Kishanganga joins River Jhelum. It is 150 kilometres from Muzaffarabad, in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, and 130 kilometres from Jammu, India.
At one time it was a famous learning centre of the Kashmiri people.The Kashmiris that Kashmiri language has the script of Sharda – quite close to Devanagari.
At one time the temple had a great library with priceless works on art, science, literature, architecture, music, humanities, medicine, astrology, astronomy, philosophy, law and jurisprudence and Sanskrit etc. Many scholars from eseveral countries used to come here.
At one time Kashmir was called Shardapeeth.
How to reach: Only by bus. Buses and minibuses make the scenic journey regularly from Islamabad 133 km, 4-5 hours.
