Raghuram Rajan, born in an orthodox Tamil Brahmin family, is a Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He was the Chief Economist and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. He received the inaugural Fischer Black Prize. In 2016, he was named by Time in its list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. He studied at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi for a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and was awarded the Director’s Gold Medal as the best all-round student. Then Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmadabad, graduating with a gold medal for academic performance, PhD from Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
