The saptamsha chart is seen for children and grand children.

In the odd signs the calculation of saptamsha starts from the sign itself and in the even signs from the 7^th from it.

In the odd signs, Kshara, Kshira, Dhadhi, Ajyam, Ikhsu, Madya and Shuddhajala are the lords of Saptamsha respectively. In the even signs the sequence is just opposite.

• The saptamsha chart is seen for the children, their life and comforts from them. Maharishi Parashara has given here a very important and vital clue to understand the general tendencies of the child according to the saptamsha, in which the child is born. Maharishi Parashara in the above shloka has given seven keys in the form of names to understand the basic characteristics of the child. But this would certainly depend upon many other factors, such as – the condition of fifth house, fifth lord and malefic/benefic influence upon them in the natal chart.
• The lord of 1^st saptamsha in the odd signs and the last saptamansha in the even signs is It signifies acidic, pungent, the one which gives pain, unbearable, the one which adds insult to an injury, which goes down or which is corrosive. So we may conclude that in case of Kshara Saptamsha the native has little comforts from the children as they may be sarcastic, hot tempered, cause of worries and anxities, unbearable and least progressive.

• The lord of the 2^nd saptamsha in the odd signs and sixth saptamsha in the even signs is It signifies milk or rnilk.Y juices, nectar, the Moon, the drink which sustains life, beneficial and soothing. So we may conclude that in case of Kshira Saptamsha the native is blessed with beautiful, amiable and well mannered children.
• The lord of the 3^rd saptamsha in the odd signs and fifth saptamsha in the even signs is It signifies sour or coagulated milk, possessiveness, which is steady and holding, softness, tenderness, the one which is delicate and. adjustable. So we may conclude that in case of Dadhi Saptamsha the native is blessed with possessive, steady, sober, attractive and adjustable children.
• The lord of the 4^th saptamsha in the odd as well even signs is It signifies melted or clarified butter which is used to give Ahuti (offering in the yajna or a homa) and is offered to gods and deities, religious activities, sattwik tendencies and sacrificing nature. In Ajyam Saptamsha the native is blessed with religiously inclined, righteous, pure, respectful and sacrificing children.
• The lord of the 5^th saptamsha in the odd signs and third saptamsha in the even signs is It signifies the sugarcane, sweetness, comfort, the one which is rough, tough, strong, straight and tall. In Ikhshu Saptamsha the native is blessed with sweet natured, comforting and straightforward children.
• The lord of the 6^th saptamsha in the odd signs and second saptamsha in the even signs is The Madya signifies intoxication, energy, delight, the one which is gladdening and makes happy. In Madya Saptamsha the native is blessed with pleasing, self-contended, joyful and fun-loving children who make his life happy and most enjoyble.
• The lord of the 7^th saptamsha in the odd signs and first saptamsha in the even signs is Shuddhajala, which signifies pure water; the one which is clean, holy, life giving, chaste, spotless, innocent, simple” guileless, upright and genuine. In Shuddhajala Saptamsha the native is blessed with very good children, who bring him joy, comforts, honour and make his life most happy and satisfied.
• If the saptamsha is a odd sign and benefic planets are posited with it or aspecting it then the native has sons and has comforts from them. In case of a even sign the native has daughters and has comforts from them. If the saptamsha lagna is occupied or aspected by malefics, native may not have children or remains worried about them.
