Lord Siva, one of the famous trinities, is worshiped by millions in India as HE is said to be merciful and each to please. There are thousands of Siva temples all over India and even in small villages you can find a Siva temple. Some temples like the ones at Somnath and Kashi/Benaras are said to be as old as time itself. Some built by ancient kings are more than a thousand years old or several hundred years – built by the great kings – old and some are of modern construction. Many people vow to build a temple if their prayers are answered and wishes fulfilled. It may sound incredible but there is a Siva temple in India built by a British couple!
